Nikolaos (Nikos) Papadopoulos is Professor of Allergy & Pediatric Allergy and Head of the Allergy Department, 2nd Pediatric Clinic, University of Athens; he also holds Honorary Professorships at the University of Manchester, UK and at OPRI, Singapore.
His work has focused on the role of microbes on allergic inflammation, on interactions with other environmental determinants, including food, and finally the use of real-world evidence in supporting clinical practice. He has supervised > 20 PhDs, organized >100 educational events, national, regional and global, and has trained doctors in the clinic and researchers in the lab. He is invited speaker at international events >30 times a year.
He has participated and led several high-impact EU research projects, such as GA2LEN, PreDicta, CURE and SynAir-G, for over two decades. He has actively served many international societies, most notably EAACI (President 2013-2015), the Respiratory Effectiveness Group (REG, President 2018-2020) and is currently a Board Member of WAO.

He has published over 500 papers, with >60000 citations and an h-index>110 and has received several international awards. He is Editor-in-Chief of Frontiers in Allergy.
Currently he is exploring the role of the respiratory virome in asthma, evaluating potential interventions against indoor air pollutants at schools, trialling new interventions in food allergy, while he is leading PeARL (Pediatric Asthma in Real-Life), a think tank that aims to optimise pediatric asthma management.
